The Newgate Absolute Return Fund takes long and short positions in Australian equity securities. Newgate is a research and evidence based fund manager seeking to generate for their investors absolute returns through the identification of incorrectly priced agents of change in companies and industries. Representatives from Newgate will talk us through their current view of the Australian market, where they see opportunities, and how their ability to go both long and short exposures is key for managing portfolio risk and expressing investment ideas.
Representing Newgate is its founder Tim Hannon. Tim has 23 years’ experience in the investment and securities markets. Tim was a partner of Goldman Sachs JBWere and during his 15-year tenure at the firm had experience across all areas of equities investing. Tim was Head of Australian Equities, Head of Real Estate and Co-Manager of Global Real Estate Securities portfolios with Goldman Sachs LLP. Tim was also founder and co-manager of the Goldman Sachs JBWere Australian Infrastructure Securities Fund, and co-manager of the award winning Goldman Sachs JBWere Emerging Leaders Fund.
